Becoming Trauma Responsive: Moving beyond trauma informed

Becoming Trauma Responsive: Moving beyond trauma informed

This full day workshop is designed for community practitioners, social workers, psychologists and counsellors however it is open to any professional working with individuals and families. It is not recommended for community members who are working through their own trauma.

Angharad will unpack the neuroscience of trauma and the differences between traumatic incidents and trauma. She will lead participants in an examination of how and why trauma develops and how it can present in multiple and complex ways which are often missed or mislabelled by the professionals around them.

Angharad always ensures that in her full day workshops she provides practical strategies and this workshop is no exception. Participants will spend time unpacking a complex trauma related scenario and discuss the most appropriate ways to support each individual. They will leave with additional tools to support the families they work with.

Participants are asked to come prepared with knowledge of their local community, medical and educational support services.

I acknowledge the traditional owners of the land where I work, live and raise my family.  I honour their traditions and history and thank them deeply for their care of this land, sea and sky.  I thank them for the privilege it is for me to be able to call Australia home; to sink my feet into the soil where, over millenia, generations have walked before me.  I offer my respect to Aboriginal elders; past, present and emerging and thank them for patiently teaching me.
